Payment, Subscription, and Cancellation Terms

Scope and current status

This document covers only Yazar Pro (the paid plan) - Yazar (the free plan) and the Author Card are always free and are not the subject of this document.

When the option to subscribe to Yazar Pro appears in your account, the purchase itself takes place through Paddle's secure checkout screen. This document explains, ahead of time and transparently, the subscription, cancellation, price-change, and tax terms that apply to that purchase.

Update Your Payment Method

You can securely update the payment method saved for your Yazar Pro subscription. If you arrived on this page through a payment notification sent by Paddle, the secure payment method update form will open automatically.

Your payment details are processed directly by Paddle. Yazar.io does not view or store your card details.

Paddle is the seller; yazar.io provides the digital product

When you purchase Yazar Pro, the selling party in the contract is not yazar.io, but our payment provider, Paddle. Paddle acts as Merchant of Record (authorized reseller) for this sale - meaning Paddle is the party that issues the invoice, calculates and collects any applicable tax (e.g. VAT or sales tax), processes the payment, and bears the legal and financial side of the sale toward you as the end customer.

yazar.io, in this arrangement, is the party that provides the digital product itself (the Yazar Pro service), your account, your content, and technical support. For Paddle's own sale terms, see Paddle's Buyer Terms document - it does not replace this page, it complements it.

Subscription type: monthly or annual, automatically renewing

When you subscribe to Yazar Pro, you choose either a monthly or an annual billing period on Paddle's checkout screen. Your subscription then renews AUTOMATICALLY according to the billing period you chose - monthly subscriptions renew every month, annual subscriptions renew every year - unless you cancel, and your saved payment method is charged.

The final price, your currency, and any applicable taxes are shown clearly on Paddle's checkout screen BEFORE you confirm payment - we do not state a fixed price figure on this page, because Paddle may localize the price based on your country.

Managing your subscription: the Paddle Customer Portal

You manage your subscription through the Paddle Customer Portal, opened via the "Manage Subscription" button on the Settings page - you can update your payment method, view your invoices and payment history, and cancel your subscription there. yazar.io does not build its own payment management screen; these functions are provided entirely through Paddle's own secure portal.

Yazar Pro Gift: a one-time, non-renewing 1-year purchase

You can gift Yazar Pro to a Yazar.io user. A gift is NOT a subscription, it is a one-time purchase: you pay once, it does not renew automatically, and your saved payment method is not charged again. Gifted Yazar Pro access starts on the date the payment completes and is valid for exactly 1 year; at the end of that period the recipient's account reverts on its own to the Yazar (free) plan.

The final price and any applicable taxes are shown clearly on Paddle's checkout screen before you confirm payment. You are the payer and the party the invoice is addressed to; the recipient is not registered as a customer with Paddle, and the recipient's email address is not sent to Paddle.

Your name (display name) from your Yazar.io profile, and a short gift note if you choose to write one, are shown to the recipient so they can see who sent the gift; your email address is not shared with the recipient. A gift can only be sent to an existing Yazar.io account, and only when that account is currently on the free plan; you cannot gift Yazar Pro to yourself.

Cancellation: takes effect at the end of the period

You can cancel your subscription at any time, free of charge, through the Paddle Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the END of your current paid period - your access is not cut off the moment you cancel.

Your access to Yazar Pro continues in full from the moment you cancel until the end of that period. At the end of the period, your account automatically reverts to the Yazar (free) plan; you will not be charged again.

Your content is not deleted when you downgrade

When you return to the Yazar plan after cancellation, or if you end up over the free plan's limits for any reason, none of your books, characters, notes, images, or other content is deleted, hidden, or made inaccessible. You continue to be able to view and export all of your existing content, and you can delete it if you choose. The first 15 entities you created for each entity type stay editable; entities above that limit become read-only until you upgrade to Yazar Pro again (content can't be changed, but it can still be viewed, exported, or deleted).

Only creating new records (e.g. adding a new book or entity beyond the free plan's limits) may be restricted based on plan limits - none of your existing data is affected. The Author Card is available on both plans under the current plan structure and is not subject to a limit.

Payment failure and retry (dunning)

If a renewal payment fails, Paddle automatically starts its retry (dunning) process and typically emails you directly. Your access is not cut off abruptly while this is in progress - you'll see a calm notice on the Settings page with a link to update your payment method.

If retry attempts are ultimately unsuccessful and the subscription ends for good, your account reverts to the Yazar (free) plan - your existing content is still not deleted in this case either.

Price Changes

Yazar Pro subscription prices may be updated for future subscription periods for reasons such as inflation, currency exchange rate changes, taxes and other legal obligations, payment infrastructure and service provider costs, changes to the features or service level included in Yazar Pro, or similar reasonable causes.

Price changes do not affect your current subscription period that you have already paid for, and are never applied retroactively - the new price is never charged as an additional difference or a prorated amount for the period you are currently in.

Existing subscribers are notified of a price change at least 30 days before it takes effect, sent to your registered email address. The notice clearly states:

Your right to cancel before the new price takes effect

You can cancel your subscription at no penalty at any time before the renewal date on which the new price would apply. If you cancel, you continue to use Yazar Pro until the end of your current, already-paid subscription period; you will not be charged the new price.

Continuation of the subscription and collection of the new price are subject to applicable law and to Paddle's mandatory notice/consent processes - where applicable law or Paddle's rules require your explicit consent, the new price is not charged unless you provide it.

Changes in tax rates (e.g. a VAT rate update) are a separate line item from the base subscription price and are always reflected separately in the final amount shown on Paddle's checkout screen; this document does not make any commitment regarding tax rates.

Your mandatory consumer rights are preserved

Nothing in this document removes or limits any right granted to you by applicable consumer protection law that cannot be limited by contract. For refund requests, see the Refund Policy page.
