    Boards Are Here! Build, Connect and Sketch Your World

    Place your characters, locations, notes and quotes on a free-form canvas and connect them with arrows. Build a mood board or map out your plot with sticky notes, text, images and pen strokes. Find the new Boards in each book's sidebar, below your sections. For the best experience we recommend a larger screen, like a tablet or a computer. Boards is a new feature, so if you run into a bug, we'd love to hear about it at support@yazar.io.

    • Add sticky notes, text, images, stickers and shapes next to your entry, note and quote cards
    • Connect with arrows, draw with the pen, rotate items; links between your entries show up on the board on their own
    • Several boards per book, and every change saves automatically
    • Free to use, no Yazar Pro needed; on the web and in the mobile app

    A Children Field for Characters

    Characters now have a Children field. Set each child's role as Mother, Father or Not specified; if the character's gender is set, the role is suggested for you. The child's page and the family tree show the same connection.

    • A female character suggests Mother, a male character Father, and you can change it any time
    • If the child already has a recorded mother or father, you are asked before saving
    • Shows up in books with a customized field template too, existing children are listed automatically
    • On the web, in the mobile app and on your Public Wiki

    Characters in More Than One Organization

    You can now pick more than one organization in a character's Organizations field. A character can belong to a guild and a kingdom's army at the same time and appears under Members on each organization's page.

    • The field is now called Organizations
    • Multiple selection works in field templates you customized earlier too
    • On the web and in the mobile app

    Family Tree Fixes

    Some labels could end up hidden under a card after you moved cards around, and parent connections added without a role were removed when the character was saved. Both are fixed.

    • Spouse, Sibling, Mother and Father labels always stay visible and no longer overlap
    • Parent connections without a role are kept and show as Parent on the character
    • A new Parent option in the connection dialog
    • On the web, in the mobile app and on your Public Wiki
  5. Improved

    A Tidier Family Tree

    Children of the same parents are now drawn with a single family fork. The lines from the mother and father meet at one point and branch out to the children, with no more crossing curves or overlapping labels.

    • Mother, Father, Spouse and Sibling labels stay visible without overlapping
    • Softer, cleaner lines with rounded corners
    • Click a fork to pick one of its connections and edit it
    • The family tree on your Public Wiki looks the same

    Custom Connections in the Family Tree

    Besides mother, father, spouse and sibling, you can now add your own label: Enemy, Lover, Stepfather or whatever your story needs. Choose Custom in the Add Connection window, then type a label or pick a suggestion.

    • Suggestions: Enemy, Lover, Friend, Rival, Stepmother, Stepfather, Step-Sibling, Guardian
    • Custom connections appear in the family tree as their own labeled line
    • They also show on your Public Wiki's family tree
    • Exports include them with their label

    Timeline Now on the Wiki

    You can publish your book's Timeline on your Public Wiki. It's off by default; turn it on from the section list in Book Settings > Wiki and your events appear as a read-only timeline, in the same order as in your workspace.

    • Dates, titles and short notes, in your workspace order
    • Participants and location shown as tags that link to their wiki pages
    • Character and location pages list the events they're linked to
    • Entries in sections you keep off the wiki, or that you hide, never show up

    Custom Sections: Add Your Own Sections to a Book

    With Yazar Pro you can add sections to each book with a name and icon you choose, 3 per book: Plants, Languages, Ships or whatever your world needs. Turn them on from the Sections list in Book Settings.

    • Field templates, relations, images and search, just like other sections
    • Set each one's name, icon and wiki address however you like
    • Can be published on your Public Wiki along with other sections
    • Yazar Pro only; if Pro ends, your entries stay read-only and are never deleted

    Section Icons and Simpler Section Settings

    Pick your own icons for each book's sections. A section's name, icon and wiki address now live in a single window in the Sections list of Book Settings.

    • Choose from 62 icons; your pick shows in the menu, search, cards and wiki
    • Edit the name, wiki address and icon together with the pencil on each section row
    • The separate Section Names card is gone, so settings are shorter

    Customize Your Wiki Section Addresses

    You can change the address of sections on your Public Wiki. If you renamed Spells to Power Systems, its address can be /power-systems too.

    • Generate the address from the name in one click or type your own
    • Old addresses redirect to the new one, so links you shared keep working
    • Leave it empty to use the default address

    Quotes: Shareable Images From Your Book

    Turn a favorite line from your book into an image you can share on Instagram, Pinterest or X in a few clicks. Find the new Quotes section in each book's sidebar, right below the Glossary.

    • 4 templates and 4 sizes: square, portrait, story and landscape
    • Preset or custom colors, fonts, text size and line spacing
    • Upload your own background image and set its focal point if you like
    • Download exactly what you see in the preview as a PNG

    Link Events to Characters and Locations

    You can now add the characters who take part in each Timeline event and the locations where it happens. A character's or location's page lists all its linked events in order.

    • Pick one or more entries in the Participants and Location fields when adding or editing an event
    • Selected characters and locations show with their own icons
    • A character's page lists the events they took part in, a location's page the events that happened there, in Timeline order
    • Click an event in the list to jump to it in the Timeline

    Highlighted Fields on Cards

    You now choose up to 3 profile fields or relationships to show on the card of every character, location, item, and more. Your picks show on public Wiki cards too.

    • Tap the star next to a Profile or Relations row to show it on the card, up to 3 fields in total
    • Your picks appear on the card in the order you chose them
    • If you pick nothing, your cards stay as they were
    • On the edit screen, Profile and Relations are now tabbed and more compact in a single card in the right column

    Add Multiple Images

    Every character, location, item, and more can now have as many images as you like instead of just one - pick several files at once. The first image becomes the main image, shown on cards and in lists.

    • Tap the "+" tile in the image area and select several images at once
    • Reorder with "Manage Images" by dragging - the first image becomes the main image
    • Set a separate focal point and zoom for each image with "Adjust Image"
    • Click an image on the detail page or your public Wiki to open it full screen, browse with the arrows or by swiping - on web and mobile

    Adjust Image

    Cover images for characters, locations, and more can now be adjusted without touching the file itself - drag to set the focal point, use the slider to zoom in. No more portraits with the head cut off.

    • Open it right after picking an image, or via "Adjust Image" on an existing cover
    • Drag to set the focal point, use the slider to zoom - pinch-to-zoom is also available on mobile
    • "Reset" returns to center; changes only become permanent once you hit Save
    • The same focal point is kept across the card, detail page, and your public Wiki

    Customize Section Names

    You can now rename sections like Characters, Spells, or Religions separately for each book - e.g. turn "Spells" into "Power Systems". Only the displayed name changes; your records and URLs are never affected.

    • Rename any of the 10 sections from Book Settings > Section Names
    • Leave a section blank to keep its default name, or use "Reset to Defaults" to clear all of them at once
    • Your custom name shows up everywhere - sidebar, search, field labels, and your public Wiki
    • If you publish your book as a Wiki, your custom names show up there too - URLs never change

    Pick a Color When Creating a New Book

    The color picker from Book Settings is now available on the new book screen too. A default color is chosen automatically based on the genre you pick, and you can override it from the palette or with your own custom color.

    Drag to Reorder Fields and Relationships

    You can now drag and drop a character's (or any other record's) field rows and relationships into the order you want. The order you save becomes permanent for that one record.

    • Drag and drop to reorder fields and relationships
    • The order you pick only applies to that one record, never your field template or other records
    • The order you save shows up exactly the same way on the detail page

    The Dashboard Now Speaks 15 Languages

    You can now use the yazar.io dashboard in 13 new languages alongside Turkish and English: Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, and Czech.

    • Switch languages with one tap from the Settings page; your choice is saved to your account
    • The mobile app (iPhone/iPad) supports the same 15 languages, kept in sync with web
    • Your book addresses (URLs) stay the same no matter which language you pick
    • The website itself (public pages like Guides/FAQ) stays Turkish/English for now

    Publishable Wiki

    You can now publish your books as a public, read-only wiki - one toggle in Book Settings puts it live at yazar.io/@username/book-slug.

    • Characters, locations, lore, and 7 other sections become public - Notes are never included
    • Published books automatically show up in a new "My Worlds" section on your Author Card, which you can hide or reorder
    • Public wiki pages now support a light/dark theme toggle
    • Turning it off makes every page and image instantly inaccessible

    Your Content Is Now Stored Encrypted

    We strengthened how your private content on yazar.io is protected. Sensitive content in your books is now encrypted at the application level, and the encryption keys are managed by a separate, secure key management system.

    • Decryption happens securely on the server whenever content is used
    • Your existing workflow stays exactly the same

    Change Your Email Address Securely

    You can now change the email address linked to your account from Settings. The new address takes effect once you confirm the verification link sent to it.

    You can now link your characters, locations, and other entities directly in your text by typing @.

    • Instant search and suggestions as soon as you type @

    Remove an Entity's Image

    You can now remove an image you uploaded for a character, location, or any other entity through a confirmation dialog.

    • A confirmation step protects against accidental removal

    The "Delete Account" button in Settings now actually works. Nothing is deleted until you confirm through a link sent to your email.

    The Notes section was redesigned from the ground up: type-based filters on the side, a card list in the middle, and a status (Idea, In Progress, Used, and more) on every note.

    • Deleted notes aren't gone for good, you can restore them from Deleted Notes
