Communication Preferences and Commercial Email Notice
This page explains which emails yazar.io sends you, under what permission - and which it does not currently send.

Current state: no newsletter/marketing emails are sent yet
As of the date this document was published, yazar.io does NOT send any newsletter, campaign, or marketing email to any user - the email-sending infrastructure for this purpose has not yet been built. The "news and updates" checkbox on the sign-up form collects your permission IN ADVANCE, to be used once such messages start being sent.
Two different kinds of email: service emails and marketing emails
It's important to keep these separate:
- Required service emails: emails to verify your account, reset your password, or notify you of an important security event (sent via our authentication provider, Supabase Auth). These are necessary for your account to function and don't require a separate marketing permission; you cannot opt out of them while your account is active, because they are part of the service, not marketing.
- Optional marketing/newsletter emails: news about yazar.io, new features, announcements. These are sent ONLY with your explicit, separate consent - and are not sent yet (see above).
How the consent is designed
The marketing consent checkbox on the sign-up form is designed around these principles:
- It is UNCHECKED by default (opt-in, not opt-out) - permission is not assumed unless you actively check it.
- Its text is clear and specific: "I want to receive news, announcements, and updates about yazar.io by email."
- It is NOT a condition of creating an account - you can sign up and use the service fully without checking this box. It is a fully separate, independent checkbox from the required KVKK-notice acknowledgement checkbox.
Withdrawing your consent
You can withdraw your marketing/newsletter consent at any time. Once the sending infrastructure is built, every message will include an "unsubscribe" link; until then, you can also withdraw your consent by writing to support@yazar.io.
İYS (Turkish Message Management System) obligation
Under Turkey's Law No. 6563 on the Regulation of Electronic Commerce and its related regulation, service providers who wish to send commercial electronic messages (advertising, campaign, or promotional emails/SMS) must register with the Ministry of Trade's İleti Yönetim Sistemi (İYS - Message Management System) and manage recipient consents through it. Commercial electronic messages sent without valid consent can be subject to administrative fines.
Because yazar.io does not yet send commercial electronic messages, no İYS registration has been made yet either. Registering with İYS, and aligning the sign-up form's consent with that system, will happen before sending begins.
