Terms of Use

These terms govern the relationship between you and us while you use yazar.io. yazar.io offers two real plans, the free Yazar plan and the paid Yazar Pro plan; payment/subscription terms are explained in the "Payments and subscriptions" section below.

Description of the service

yazar.io is a web-based workspace that helps you organize world-building elements (characters, locations, organizations, lore, a family tree, notes, and a timeline) for novels and other long-form fiction. yazar.io is NOT a word processor: you're still expected to write your manuscript's actual prose in Word, Google Docs, or a similar tool; yazar.io is a reference and organization companion only.

Account creation and account security

You need an account to use the service (creating a book, editing content). You are responsible for keeping your account credentials (including your password) confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.

If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, please notify us immediately.

Age and legal capacity

yazar.io is designed as a general-purpose writing tool and does not currently have a separate age-verification mechanism. By using the service, you represent that you meet the age or legal capacity required to open an account under the law of your country (or have appropriate parental/guardian consent).

Acceptable use

While using yazar.io, you agree to:

  • Use your account only for your own legitimate use
  • Not attempt to disrupt the security, infrastructure, or experience of other users of the service
  • Not attempt unauthorized access using automated tools (bots, scrapers, etc.)
  • Not use public areas such as your Author Card or a Shareable Wiki you turn on for a book in a way that infringes on others' rights

Fair Use Policy

Features marked "Unlimited" on the Free and Paid plans (Glossary, Timeline, Notes, and Books/Entities on the Paid plan) are unlimited for typical, personal writing use and are subject to the Fair Use Policy below.

A normal but large fictional universe (for example, a long series with dozens of characters) does not automatically violate this policy.

  • Generating bulk records with an automated script or bot
  • Using the platform as a general-purpose file storage service
  • Sharing your account with others or reselling your usage rights
  • Using the service in a way that degrades performance for other users

Prohibited content and conduct

You may not create or share the following on yazar.io:

  • Content that violates the laws of the Republic of Turkey or the law applicable in your country
  • Content that infringes others' intellectual property rights (see the Content and Intellectual Property Policy - copyright infringement notice process)
  • Hate speech, harassment, or harmful content targeting real people (your creative freedom for fictional characters is preserved - this clause targets abuse directed at real individuals)
  • Malware, phishing content, or technical tools intended to abuse the service
  • Sharing another person's personal data without authorization on your public Author Card or on a Shareable Wiki you turn on

User content and content ownership

You retain full copyright and ownership of everything you create on yazar.io - books, characters, lore, notes, images, and other creative work. See the Content and Intellectual Property Policy for details.

The limited technical license you grant the platform

By submitting content to us, you do NOT transfer a broad, perpetual, or commercial license to us. You grant us only a non-exclusive, limited technical license (to the extent necessary, and only for as long as your account is active) to:

  • store your content, keep it in our database, and display it to you
  • back it up (as part of the service's normal operation)
  • export it to you, only at your own request (the export feature)
  • publicly display the parts of your Author Card you choose to publish, and the in-scope sections of any book whose Shareable Wiki you turn on

Copyright infringement notice process

If you believe content on the platform infringes your intellectual property rights, you can notify us at support@yazar.io with a description of the work you believe was infringed, the location (URL) of the infringing content, and your contact information. We review notices and act within a reasonable time.

Service changes

yazar.io is actively developed; we may change, add to, or remove features over time. For significant changes, we try to give reasonable advance notice, though we cannot guarantee this in every case.

Access interruptions

Access to the service may occasionally be interrupted due to maintenance, technical issues, or problems originating from our third-party providers (Supabase, Vercel, etc.). We do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Payments and subscriptions

When you purchase the Yazar Pro paid plan, the payment itself is handled by our payment provider, Paddle - Paddle acts as the Merchant of Record (authorized reseller) for this sale, meaning Paddle is the party that issues invoices, collects tax, and bears the legal/financial side of the sale toward you as the end customer. yazar.io, in this arrangement, is the provider of the digital product (the Yazar Pro service), the accounts, the content, and technical support.

Subscription terms, automatic renewal, cancellation, downgrades, payment failure, price changes, and how tax is handled are explained on the Payment, Subscription, and Cancellation Terms page; refund requests are subject to the Refund Policy page and to Paddle's own Buyer Terms.

Export and data portability

You can export the content of your books at any time, in Markdown (.zip) or JSON format. This feature is available for all your books except the Sample Book (demo content).

Suspension or termination of your account

We may suspend or terminate your account if we determine you have violated these terms or applicable law. Where possible, we try to notify you first; for serious violations (security threats, unlawful content, etc.) we may act without prior notice.

If you want to close your own account, see the Data Deletion and Account Closure Notice.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use or inability to use the service. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (e.g. liability arising from intent or gross negligence).

No warranty

The service is provided "as is." We make no express or implied warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Turkey. The service is operated by a sole proprietorship operated by MEHMET SAİT ADIBELLİ (business address: Narlıdere, İzmir, Türkiye; tax identification number: 0070668716). The competent courts and enforcement offices for disputes arising from these terms are determined according to the applicable jurisdictional rules of Turkish law.
