Worldbuilding Software for Game Writers
On video game and indie game teams, the writer is the one who keeps the world's single source of truth: characters, factions, regions, items and their stories. yazar.io helps you keep that lore organized, linked and shareable with your team.
Why game lore scatters
In a game, story lives not only in dialogue but in item descriptions, region names, enemy types and background notes. When this information spreads across design documents, chat messages and personal notes, inconsistencies are inevitable: a faction leader is called by two names, an item's origin is told two different ways.
Ready-made sections for every part of your world
yazar.io has ready-made sections for characters, locations (regions, dungeons, cities), organizations (factions, guilds), items, creatures, races, spells and lore. Each record has its own page with ready-made profile fields and fields you can add for your game; for example an item already has a rarity field, and you can add one like 'Where to Find'.
Links are created automatically
When you type @Name in a quest note or character description, the link is created automatically and appears on the other page too. A faction's page shows its members, affiliated regions and every record that mentions it at a glance. The Timeline keeps your world's history in order.
Share with your team, and know what yazar.io doesn't do
When you open your book as a Shareable Wiki, your team and community can reach the lore on a read-only web page; you can share it unlisted or password-protected. yazar.io is not a dialogue tree, quest design or game engine tool, and it doesn't offer shared editing; the account owner edits the records.
Can my teammates edit too?
No, currently only the owner can edit a book. Your team can access the lore read-only through the Shareable Wiki.
Can I rename sections to match my game's terms?
Yes. From Book Settings you can, for example, rename Organizations to 'Factions' and Spells to 'Abilities'.
Can I move the lore into my game's own systems?
You can export your book as JSON and process that structured data in your own tools.
