Worldbuilding Software for D&D Campaigns

Tabletop campaigns like D&D have two layers: the campaign itself (dice rolls, session notes, player stats) and the WORLD the campaign takes place in (NPCs, locations, factions, history). yazar.io doesn't target the campaign-management layer - it can only be used to keep the second layer, the world, organized.

Which need belongs where in a D&D campaign?

It helps to split what a D&D campaign needs into two buckets: table-specific tools (dice rolling, initiative tracking, session notes, player stat blocks) and world-knowledge tools (NPCs, cities/guilds, dynasties, campaign history). yazar.io doesn't target the first bucket at all - tools like World Anvil fill that gap (see World Anvil vs yazar.io).

How does yazar.io keep the campaign's world organized?

You can track NPCs in Characters, cities and guild halls in Locations, factions and guilds and kingdoms in Organizations, and the campaign's history and rules in Lore. Type @The Shadow Guild on an NPC's page and that link is created automatically - when a player forgets which NPC belongs to which faction, you can look it up in seconds.

What handles the campaign's chronology?

The Event Flow section lists a campaign's key events (a battle, an alliance, an NPC's death) chronologically with a date label - it's not a calendar or a session log, just a simple timeline that quickly answers 'when did this happen.'

Can I roll dice or keep session notes in yazar.io?

No - those are outside yazar.io's scope. It only targets keeping the world BEHIND the campaign (NPCs, locations, history) organized; for table-specific tools, look at RPG-specific platforms like World Anvil.

Can I build a map to share with players?

No, there's no interactive map editor. World Anvil is a better fit for that specific need.

Can I use it for more than one campaign or world?

Yes - each campaign/world is created as a separate 'book,' fully independent from the others.
