Custom Section Software
Not every world is just characters, places and items; some have plants, others languages, ships or dynasties. yazar.io's Custom Section feature lets you add new sections to your book, each with a name and icon you choose. With Yazar Pro you can add up to 3 Custom Sections per book.
What is a Custom Section for?
yazar.io comes with ready-made sections such as Characters, Locations, Organizations, Lore, Races, Creatures, Items, Spells, Beliefs and Glossary. If your world needs a category beyond these, like healing plants, invented languages or a fleet's ships, you open a Custom Section for it. Records in a Custom Section work like records anywhere else: profile fields, a long description, images and @Name links.
How do I add one?
Turn on a Custom Section under Book Settings > Sections and choose its name and icon. Each book can have up to 3 Custom Sections, each with its own name and icon. You decide the profile fields yourself on the Field Template screen; a Custom Section doesn't come with built-in fields.
In the wiki, search and exports
If you've turned on your book's Shareable Wiki, you can publish your Custom Sections like any other section and set their wiki addresses yourself. Search and export cover Custom Section records too.
What happens when Yazar Pro ends?
Custom Section is a Yazar Pro feature. If your Yazar Pro ends, your records aren't deleted: you can still view, search, export and delete them, but you can't add new records or edit existing ones. When you return to Yazar Pro, everything opens up again where you left it.
Is Custom Section available on the free plan?
No, Custom Section is available only with Yazar Pro. On the free plan you can rename and hide the built-in sections.
Isn't renaming a built-in section enough?
Often it is; for example, you can rename Beliefs to Cults. But if your world uses all the built-in sections and still needs a new category, a Custom Section helps.
Can Custom Section records link to other records?
Yes. Mention a Custom Section record with @Name in any text, and the records that mention it are listed as backlinks on its page.
