Worldbuilding Software for Screenwriters
In TV and film writing, characters' histories, relationships, locations and events across seasons are gathered in a series bible that everyone in the writers' room knows by heart. yazar.io helps you build that information in a linked, organized structure and share it with your team as a read-only wiki.
Why a series bible matters
In a long-running show, different writers write different episodes; if a character's sibling's name, which season an event happened in or how two characters met doesn't live somewhere everyone knows, contradictions are inevitable. The series bible is the single source of that shared knowledge.
Characters, relationships and locations
In yazar.io each character has their own page with ready-made profile fields and custom fields you can add, like 'Actor' or 'First Appearance'. Keep family ties in the Family Tree and groups and institutions in Organizations. You can record sets and shooting locations in Locations too. When you type @Name in any text, the link is created automatically and appears on the other page.
Events across seasons
Keep the story's events in order in the Timeline; since the date field is free text, you can write things like 'Season 2, Episode 5'. When a new season is being written, the order of earlier events is in front of everyone.
Share with the team, and know what yazar.io doesn't do
When you open your book as an Unlisted or password-protected Shareable Wiki, everyone in the writers' room reaches the series bible without an account. yazar.io is not a screenwriting or formatting tool and doesn't offer shared editing; you keep writing the script in the tool you're used to, and the account owner edits the records.
Can I write my screenplay in yazar.io?
No. yazar.io doesn't do screenplay formatting; you write the script in your usual tool and keep your world and characters in yazar.io.
Can other writers in the room edit?
No, currently only the owner can edit a book. Other writers reach the series bible read-only through the Shareable Wiki.
Will the wiki show up on search engines?
Not with Unlisted visibility; only people with the link can see it. You can add a password too.
