How do I add a character's children?
From the Children field in the character's profile. As you pick each child, you also choose whether this character is their mother or father; the link then shows up on the child's own page and in the family tree. You never have to enter the same information twice.
Where is the Children field?
Children is a default field in the character profile. While editing a character, pick one or more characters from your book in this field. Even if you've customized your Field Template, the Children field is added to the profile; if you don't want it, you can remove it from the template.
Mother or father?
A role appears next to each child you pick: Mother, Father or Not specified. If the character's Gender field is Female, Mother is suggested; if it's Male, Father is suggested. You can change it any time. Roles you've saved stay as they are, even if you change the character's gender later.
What happens on the child's page?
The Children field uses the same link as the child's Mother and Father fields. When you add a character as a child's mother, she also appears as Mother on the child's page and sits on the same family fork in the tree. If the child already has a different mother on record, a confirmation asks you before anything changes; if you cancel, nothing is changed.
Can I change the role later?
Yes. Edit the character, change the role in the Children field to Mother, Father or Not specified and save. The change is reflected on the child's page and in the family tree too.
Can I add children in the mobile app too?
Yes. The Children field and role selection work the same way on the web and in the iPhone, iPad and Android app.
What happens to family links I created earlier?
Nothing is lost. Links you created earlier from the Mother or Father fields or in the family tree appear automatically in the parent character's Children field.
