Linked Pages Software
yazar.io's core mechanic is Linked Pages: mention an entity's name anywhere in your text and the link is created automatically when you save, or type @ to pick one instantly - either way, that connection shows up both on the page you're writing and on the page you linked to, a wiki-style cross-reference system.
How do links get created: automatically, or with @?
Two ways. The default and easiest one: just type an entity's name anywhere in a text field, and it links automatically when you save - no special action needed. The second is optional: type @ and an entity suggestion list appears; pick one and the link is created right away, before you even save (the same record - a mention - gets kept behind the scenes either way). That suggestion list is drawn from records that already exist in your book - you need to create an entity once in its own section before you can link to it.
What does the backlink panel do?
Open a page (say, 'Character X') and a panel listing every OTHER page that mentions it shows up automatically - you never update it by hand. That panel lets you answer 'who mentions this character' without scanning the whole book.
Which sections are part of this system?
Characters, Locations, Organizations, Lore, Races, Creatures, Items, Spells, Beliefs, and Glossary all share the same linking engine - you can link from any one of them to any other using @Name. Structural relationships like family tree ties and organization membership are set up separately, through their own dedicated fields.
Does the entity need to already exist before you can link to it?
Yes - the @Name suggestion is drawn from records that already exist in your book. You need to create the entity once in its own section before you can link to it.
Do links work across two different books?
No - links are scoped to a single book, an entity in one book can't be linked from another. Each book is its own independent workspace.
If I delete a link, does the backlink panel update too?
Yes - the backlink panel always reflects the current link records, there's nothing to sync by hand.
