Character Creation Software

yazar.io's Characters section gives every character a profile (name, summary, custom fields), a rich text body, and automatic links to other characters, locations, and organizations. Beyond entering a name and a picture, it also shows automatically how that character connects to the rest of the world.

What does a character page include?

Each character record has a name, a short summary, a cover image, a long wiki-style biography in a rich text body (TipTap), and up to 20 custom profile fields per entity. There's no mandatory template - you choose which fields matter (say, 'eye color,' 'origin,' 'motivation').

How do characters automatically link to other sections?

Type @Location Name or @Organization Name inside a character's body text and that link is created automatically - the locations, organizations, and related characters tied to that character are listed on their page on their own, and a backlink shows up on the related location/organization page too. You never have to add the same relationship twice.

How does the family tree handle relationships?

Parent/spouse relationships between characters live in a separate drag-and-drop Family Tree view (built on React Flow) - instead of explaining a tangled family in prose, you can track it as a visual diagram.

Is there a limit on how many characters I can create?

No, you can create as many characters as you want within a book.

Can I upload images for characters?

Yes, you can upload a cover/portrait image for each character; the image is stored in a private area accessible only to you.

Is character creation software the same as a character-writing craft guide?

No - this page describes the software's character FEATURE. For advice on building a believable character, see our guide on how to create a novel character.
