What happens if I delete a book?
Deleting a book doesn't make it disappear right away; it stays on the Deleted Books page for 30 days, and you can restore it with one click during that time. When the period ends, the book is queued for permanent deletion. If you don't want to wait, you can delete it permanently, which requires clicking a confirmation link sent to your email.
Where do deleted books go?
To a page you can reach from the Deleted Books link on the Library page. It shows when each book was deleted and how many days are left before permanent deletion. Restore brings the book back with all its records and links.
What happens after 30 days?
When the period ends, the book can no longer be viewed or restored; it's queued for permanent deletion. Until then, your book is kept exactly as it was when you deleted it.
What if I want to delete it permanently right away?
On the Deleted Books page you can choose Delete Permanently. This removes the book and all its characters, locations, notes and links for good. To prevent accidents, a confirmation link is sent to your email; nothing is deleted unless you click it.
Can I keep a copy of my book before deleting it?
Yes. From Book Settings you can export your book as JSON or Markdown; taking a backup before deleting is a good habit.
Does a deleted book count toward my free plan's book limit?
Yes. A book in Deleted Books counts toward your book limit until it's permanently deleted. To free up room right away, delete it permanently from Deleted Books. The Sample Book doesn't count toward the limit.
My book was a Shareable Wiki, what happens?
When the book is deleted, its wiki pages close to visitors too. If you restore the book, your wiki settings come back with it.
