Worldbuilding Software for First-Time Novelists
For a writer starting a first novel, the hardest part is often not the writing but knowing where to begin. Characters live in your head, scenes in the margins of a notebook, names in your phone's notes. yazar.io helps you gather your world into a ready-made structure without learning a complicated tool.
A ready-made structure instead of a blank page
Many tools hand you a blank page and leave the structure to you. For a first-time novelist, that means designing a system before writing. In yazar.io you pick your genre when creating your book, and matching sections like Characters, Locations and Notes are ready to go. You can hide the ones you don't need and turn them on later.
Look at an example first
The sample book in your library, The Lost Kingdom, shows what a world looks like in yazar.io: character pages, the links between them, a family tree and a timeline. Browsing it before starting your own book is the fastest way to understand what goes where.
Start small, expand as you grow
You don't have to fill in every field; profile fields are optional. You can create a character with just a name and two sentences and add detail as the story moves on. Drop ideas into Notes and later link them to the right character with @Name; your world takes shape as you write.
Write your novel where you're used to
yazar.io isn't a novel-writing program. You keep writing your novel in Word, Google Docs or whatever you prefer; yazar.io stays open alongside as the reference for your characters and world. That way you don't have to learn a new writing tool.
Do I have to pay to get started?
No. On the free plan you can create 2 books and add up to 15 records in each section like Characters and Locations; the Glossary, Timeline and Notes have no such limit. For a first novel, that's usually more than enough.
I've never built a world. Where do I start?
Start with your main character: their name, what they want and what stands in their way. Then add the first place the story happens. The rest comes as you write.
I don't write fantasy. Will it still help?
Yes. A realistic novel also needs you to keep track of characters, places and the order of events. The sections change based on the genre you pick when creating your book.
