Worldbuilding Software for Creative Writing Classes
In creative writing classes, students learning to build characters and worlds often write everything on paper and in scattered documents. yazar.io helps students build their characters, locations and world rules in an organized structure and share the finished work with their teacher through a link.
Why a structure helps
For someone just learning to build characters and worlds, a blank page can be intimidating. Ready-made profile fields (like age, occupation, eye color and role) show students which questions to ask; links between records make it concrete how characters, locations and organizations affect each other.
Start with an example world
The Sample Book (Kayıp Krallık) that comes with every account shows how a full world is built. Before starting their own book, students can explore it to see what a character page, a location or a glossary entry looks like.
Sharing the work
A student can open their book as a Shareable Wiki with Unlisted visibility and share the link with their teacher; the teacher doesn't need an account, and the wiki won't show up on search engines. A password can be added too.
What to know
Each student has their own account and only they edit their book; yazar.io is not a class management, assignment submission or shared editing tool. The free plan offers 2 books and 15 records per type per book, which is usually enough for a class project.
Do students have to pay?
No. The free plan is permanent and usually enough for a class project; those who want higher limits can upgrade to Yazar Pro.
How does the teacher see students' work?
The student opens their book as a Shareable Wiki and shares the link. The teacher views it read-only without an account.
Can yazar.io be used in languages other than Turkish?
Yes. The app is available in 15 languages; ready-made profile fields and section names appear in the chosen language.
