Dystopian Writing Software
Dystopia is a genre that stands on its rules: the regime's laws, who can access what, how the resistance is organized and how the world ended up this way. yazar.io helps you keep these parts of a dystopian world connected and consistent.
Why consistency is critical in dystopia
A dystopian order is frightening because of the logic of its rules. A law enforced in one chapter and forgotten in the next, or confusion about who holds which privilege, quickly erodes the reader's belief in the world. Writing down the regime's rules and staying faithful to them in every scene is the foundation of the genre.
Regime, factions and resistance
In the Organizations section you can keep the government, institutions, classes and resistance groups as separate records. When you connect characters to these organizations, a group's page automatically shows its members and the locations it's tied to. Who is loyal to whom never gets muddled.
Laws, propaganda language and the history of the collapse
Keep the regime's laws and social rules in Lore records. Most dystopias invent their own language: official terms, banned words, slogans. Store them with their meanings in the Glossary. Show how the world reached its current state by ordering events in the Timeline.
Start with the Dystopia genre
When you create a book in yazar.io you can choose Dystopia as the genre and pick a subgenre such as Political, Technological, Ecological or Social Dystopia. Sections suited to the genre (Characters, Locations, Organizations, Lore, Items, Glossary, Notes and Timeline) open automatically; hide the ones you don't need or turn on others.
How do I keep track of my dystopian world's own terms?
In the Glossary you can keep each term as a separate record with its meaning and category; mentioning it with @Term in any text links it to the record.
Can I rename sections to fit my world?
Yes. From Book Settings you can, for example, rename Organizations to 'Ministries' or 'Cells'; your records and links are kept.
Do I write my novel in yazar.io?
No. yazar.io is for building your world; you keep writing the manuscript in the tool you're used to, like Word or Google Docs.
