What to track in an adventure
The order in which characters pass through places, the distances between them, items gained or lost on the way and the peoples they meet. As the journey goes on, details like what's in a character's pack or how many days ago they left a city are easily muddled.
Stops, peoples and creatures
Keep each stop in the Locations section with its climate, danger level and key resources. Record the peoples met on the road in Races and dangerous beasts in Creatures. Every record you mention with @Name on a location's page shows up on the other page automatically.
Items and the order of the journey
Keep the treasure, maps and key items in the Items section with their origin and value. Showing the journey's stops and events in order in the Timeline makes it easy to know where everyone is at any moment.
Start with the Adventure genre
When you create a book in yazar.io, you can choose the Adventure genre and a subgenre such as Exploration, Treasure Hunt, Survival, Nautical, Pirate, Travel or Wilderness Adventure. Sections suited to the genre (Characters, Locations, Organizations, Lore, Races, Creatures, Items, Glossary, Notes and Timeline) open automatically.
Can I draw the journey's map in yazar.io?
No, yazar.io is not a map-drawing tool. Prepare your map in another tool and add it as an image to the relevant location record.
How do I track the order of the journey?
Keep each stop and event as short notes in order in the Timeline; since the date field is free text, you can write things like 'Day 12 of the journey'.
Do I write my novel in yazar.io?
No. yazar.io is for building your world; you keep writing the manuscript in the tool you're used to, like Word or Google Docs.
