Can I use yazar.io without an internet connection?
Partly. Creating and editing records needs an internet connection, because your world is stored safely in your account and opens the same way on every device. The mobile app, however, can keep showing content you've already opened when your connection drops for a short while.
Why does editing need a connection?
Your yazar.io records live in your account, not on your device, and they're stored encrypted. That's what lets you update a character on your phone and open it unchanged on your computer. Editing needs an internet connection so your changes can be written to that central record.
What happens if the connection drops?
In the iPhone, iPad and Android app, books and records you've already opened are kept on your device temporarily. When your connection goes away for a short while (on the subway, on a plane, in a weak signal area), you can keep viewing that content. To add or edit records, you'll need to wait for the connection to come back.
What if I'll be offline for a long time?
From the Export section in Book Settings you can download your whole book as Markdown or JSON. Markdown files can be read on any device; use them to browse your world while traveling or to keep a backup. You keep writing the novel itself where you always do, in Word or Docs.
Will changes I make while offline be lost?
Edits can't be saved without a connection, and the app tells you so. That's why we recommend not closing the app before you see that an important change was saved.
Does the website work offline?
No. Using yazar.io on the web needs a connection; showing previously opened content during short outages is specific to the mobile app.
Can I import an exported file back in?
There's no import tool right now. Export is for reading, backing up or using your data in another tool.
